Geographic origins - Determining exchange along the Tiwanaku road

Southern Peru strontium isotope project

There is archaeological evidencce for cultural exchanges between the Wari and Tiwanaku cultures (600-1100 CE). These ancient peoples of Southern Peru experienced extreme drought that is thought to have led to their state collapse. We are testing whether strontium isotopes can be used to determine the movement of these ancient human populations in Southern Peru.
