Speleothem monsoon records
Huagapo Cave paleo-monsoon project
The South American Monsoon provides critical rainfall to the water-stressed Peruvian Andes.
Determining how the monsoon strength has fluctuated over past glacial-interglacial cycles can aid in our predictions of future monsoon response. We are constructing a 400,000-year record of monsoon strength from Huagapo, Pacupahuain, and Antipayargunan caves in the Central Peruvian Andes.
